If the rumours are correct, the oft-persuasive James Cameron is helping Neil Blomkamp’s long-proposed “Alien” movie – the one that would bring back series star Sigourney Weaver as Ellen Ripley in a scenario set post-“Aliens” – move forward.
Makes sense then that the recently-announced “Alien” TV series won’t follow the adventures of Ms Ripley, seen the bigscreen will be tackling her tale.
Speaking to Vanity Fair, creator Noah Hawley (“Fargo”) said his FX series is not “a Ripley story.”
The TV wunderkind hints at a rather deep story akin to Ridley Scott’s “Prometheus” instead :
“You will see what happens when the inequality we’re struggling with now isn’t resolved. If we as a society can’t figure out how to prop each other up and spread the wealth, then what’s going to happen to us?”
The new series will be set on Earth.
