Robinson boards Edge of Tomorrow sequel

Warner Bros are pushing on with a sequel to Doug Liman’s “Edge of Tomorrow”, with Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt expected to reprise their roles from the 2014 original.

Per THR, Matthew Robinson (“Invention of Lying”) has been tapped to write the script for the film, which will be produced by Erwin Stoff, Tom Lassally, and Masi Oka, with Hisashi Sasaki exec producing.

The project was commissioned for the development process in 2016, with writers Joe Schrapnel and Anna Waterhouse assigned to initially develop the film.

“Edge of Tomorrow”, based on Hiroshi Sakurazaka’s 2004 Japanese novel, “All You Need Is Kill,” saw Cruise play a military public relations officer who finds himself stuck in a time loop that sends him back to the previous day every time he dies.

In addition to 2009’s “Invention of Lying”, Robinson also got a story credit on Dreamworks’ “Monster Trucks”.
