Per Deadline, “RoboCop” writer Josh Zetumer has been tapped to write the “X-Men” spin-off “Gambit”, starring Channing Tatum, for FOX.
Marvel comics writer Chris Claremont wrote the treatment for the film.
Tatum told Collider this past Summer that his Gambit – previously played by Taylor Kitsch in “X-Men Origins : Wolverine” – will be unlike most other superhero films.
“We’re gonna try to change up the superhero-type movie, maybe give us something a little different. In my opinion, Gambit is an outlier in the X-Men [universe], he’s not a good guy in a way. He smokes, he drinks, he’s chasing women, he’s a thief. I’m not like an X-Men head but I just love him.”
Rumor has it that Tatum’s Gambit might make his first appearance as Gambit in “X-Men : Apocalypse”.
