Romance at the center of Spider-Man : Into the Spider-Verse sequel!

Looking to be as much a commercial success as it’s been critically, Sony already have the brains trust working on “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” sequels, prequels and spin-offs. In addition to a “Spider-Ham” spin-off (fist pump!), producers have confirmed that we’ll be seeing more Spider-women in the near future (in their own movie), as well as Spider-Man 2099, who appears in the post-credit sequence of “Spider-Verse”, voiced by Oscar Isaac.

Most of the focus though, it seems, is on the direct sequel with Sony’s Amy Pascal confirming that the next film will again follow Miles Morales.

Vanity Fair caught up with Pascal – for a wide-ranging chat about everything Spidey- who said a romantic subplot involving Morales and Gwen Stacey, cut from the first film, will be reinstated for the sequel.

Joaquim Dos Santos (Netflix’s ”Voltron”) is directing the sequel with David Callaham (”The Expendables”) onboard to help script.

Also soon-to-go, an all Spider-Women film, written by Bek Smith, will feature Spider-Gwen and Cindy Moon (a.k.a. Silk) as well as Jessica Drew (a.k.a. Spider-Woman).

And while there’s no production date scheduled for a “Spider-Ham” movie, both Pascal and longtime “Spider-Man” producer Avi Arad confirmed that “We want piggy.”
