Grady Hendrix-penned horror jaunt boasts a superlative concept – a pizza delivery driver, Sam (Hayley Griffith) brings a pie to the wrong household, in this case a group of Satan-worshiping nutters looking for a sweet sacrifice.
Sam’s first day as a pizza delivery driver is not going according to plan. At the end of a long day and not enough tips, her last delivery turns out to be for a group of Satanists looking for someone to sacrifice. Now in a fight for her life, Sam must fend off witches, evil spells and demonic creatures, all while trying to keep her body – and soul – intact.
Like the recent “Banana Splits Movie”, “Satanic Panic” has a killer concept that isn’t arguably realized. Where it succeeds though is as a remarkable showreel for its skillful, imaginative director (Chelsea Stardust) and very talented lead, newcomer Hayley Griffith. Together, they’re a dynamite package.
Horror fans will likely be surprised and slightly irked by the thin offerings of horror on offer, and others will be bummed not to discover laughs and sequences as fun and outlandish as the set-up, but as a warm-up act for what Stardust and Griffith, respectively, do next — it delivers.
