Screen Australia financing previously-delayed Wolf Creek 2

“Wolf Creek 2”, originally scheduled to shoot in February, is back on, according to Deadline.

The movie was delayed because a private investor backed out of lending co-writer/director Greg McLean the dough to make it.

The sequel to the bone-chilling thriller, again starring John Jarratt as the outback maniac Mick Taylor, is one of three features that Screen Australia opted to get behind today – the other two being Ethan Hawke and the Spierig Bros’ science-fiction film “Predestination”, and director Rolf De Heer’s “Charlie’s Country” starring David Gulpilil.

McLean wrote the script for “Wolf Creek 2” alongside Aaron Sterns.

Here’s the previously-released synopsis for “Wolf Creek 2” :

Lured by the promise of an authentic Australian holiday, backpackers RUTGER, KATARINA and PAUL visit the notorious Wolf Creek crater. Their dream Outback adventure soon becomes a horrific reality when they encounter the site’s most infamous local, the last man any traveler to the vast and isolated region ever wants to meet; MICK TAYLOR (John Jarratt).

As the backpackers flee, Mick pursues them on an epic, white knuckled rampage across hostile wasteland. Only one will remain to be dragged back to his lair to witness the true magnitude of his monstrosity. And if the last man standing is to have any hope of surviving where no one has survived before, he’ll have to use every ounce of cunning to outwit the man behind the monster, and become every bit as ruthless as the monster inside the man.

No word on when “Wolf Creek 2” goes before-the-cameras but it’ll likely be sometime over the next few months.
