SeaChange reboot : title, cast & plot updates

More details have washed ashore about Nine’s upcoming “SeaChange” reboot.

Per Screen Australia, “SeaChange : Paradise Reclaimed” will see Sigrid Thornton’s Laura Gibson return to Pearl Bay to deal with matters on both a personal (she is estranged from daughter Miranda, played by Cassandra Magath, who is about to give birth to her first child) and professional nature (there’s some shonky stuff going on in town, for one). Laura and Max’s grown-up daughter factors into the story, as does town staple Bob Jelly (John Howard).

ITV, moving into scripted TV, unite with Every Cloud Productions on the highly-anticipated series.

Deb Cox and Andrew Knight are executive producing with Fiona Eager, David Mott, Lois Randall and Thornton. Wayne Blair, director of the upcoming Oz comedy “Top End Wedding”, is helming.
The eight-episode limited series is expected to air late 2019 on Nine.

In a previous statement, Thornton said she was “absolutely thrilled to be returning to Pearl Bay. Time has passed and the world has changed, so as we revisit this rich and strange place I trust we’ll all delight in the chance to explore how far we’ve come and how far we still have to go. I can hardly wait.”

While the original series shot in Barwon Heads, VIC, the sequel series will reportedly lens in Brunswick Heads, NSW.

One cast member that will likely be absent from the reboot is beloved actor Tom Long, who played Angus. The 50-year-old actor revealed this month that he’s dying from terminal blood cancer, having been given a prognosis of just three months to live back in December 2018.
