See Jim Carrey in the loopy new Sonic the Hedgehog trailer!

Paramount has released the first – rather nutty – trailer for November’s “Sonic the Hedgehog” movie.

Based on the SEGA console game from the Bush-era, the film features a CGI Sonic alongside regular family-comedy hot pop James Marsden (“Hop”, “Enchanted”) and Jim Carrey, playing the villainous Dr. Robotnik.

The film follows the (mis)adventures of Sonic as he navigates the complexities of life on Earth with his newfound – human – best friend Tom Wachowski (James Marsden). Sonic and Tom join forces to try and stop the villainous Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey) from capturing Sonic and using his immense powers for world domination. The film also stars Tika Sumpter and Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic.

Spotted Neal McDonough, of “Boomtown” and “Walking Tall” fame, in there too.

If anything, it’s good to see master of physical comedy Carrey back doing his wacky old shtick.

Say what!? Lloyd Dobler trilogy!
