Sequel news : Bird Box, Wedding Crashers, Old Guard

“Bird Box” scribe Josh Malerman says a sequel is in the works – but he remains tight-lipped as to what it’ll be about and which characters it’ll fix on. “I can’t say much, but I can say that it is in development,” Malerman teased. “Sometimes it’s weird, all this secrecy, but I’m game.”  [More…]

“Eurovision” helmer David Dobkin said he’s “played around with a screenplay” for a “Wedding Crashers” sequel that Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn still need to read and work on, but “we are having conversations.” He added that he’s in no rush to get the movie done. “I believe in sequels that are new and appropriate, and I don’t think there’s a time limit of chasing what that is. There may be one day when we can finally get it all together. I can tell you that it’s really fun to read those voices of these guys on the page again. Gina Prince-Bythwood, director of Netflix’s “The Old Guard”, says there’s definitely a possibility of a sequel.  “Honestly, it’s up to the audience. We’ll see how the audience responds to the film. Greg Rucka, who wrote the graphic novels and the screenplay, always envisioned the novels as a trilogy, and I know where the story goes, which is pretty great. So if the audience is up for them, there’s certainly more story to tell.” She adds, “I love this story. I love the characters. I love the cast I put together. So I don’t know, I love that I created this thing, and I don’t know how I’d feel about someone else’s hands on it. On the flip side, I have my next film lined up, so it would probably be based on schedule more than desire. Because certainly, of course I would want to.” [More…]
