Sequel updates : Halloween 2, Spider-Verse 2, Coming 2 America

In addition to an earlier report from today that an “Easy A” spin-off, featuring the title character’s brother, is in the works, the interwebs have floated some bits pertaining to a few other notable follow-ups over the past 24 hours. Here’s the low-down :

Halloween 2

Jamie Lee Curtis will be back as the long-suffering Laurie Strode for a sequel to last year’s surprise ‘reboot’ – and better still, the film looks to be eyeing an October 2020 release. Not too far away at all. Sources say the film, Curtis’s fifth in the franchise, could shoot as early as September. Judy Greer and Andi Matichak, who, respectively, play Laurie’s adult daughter, Karen, and teenage granddaughter, Allyson, are also back for the new one.  [More…]

Spider-Man Into the Spider-Verse 2

No surprise, considering the coin this one made, Sony have definite plans to bring back toon Spidey – and his multiverse of side characters. “We are definitely hard at work on the sequel,” producer Amy Pascal told Gizmodo. “You can expect another movie.” Reports from late last year had Joaquim Dos Santos (“Avatar : The Last Airbender”) directing the film, with Dave Callaham (“Wonder Woman 1984”) scripting.  [More…]

Coming 2 America

The long-awaited sequel, shooting this summer in Atlanta, has added Jermaine Fowler to its starry cast (which so far includes Eddie Murphy, Arsenio Hall, John Amos, James Earl Jones and Shari Headley).
