Skarsgard, Goldberg aboard The Stand

Two big names aboard CBS All Access’ upcoming adaptation of Stephen King’s “The Stand” today, with Pennywise sibling Alexander Skarsgard (“True Blood”, “Big Little Lies”) and Oscar winner Whoopi Goldberg cast in key roles.

According to Collider, Skarsgard plays Randall Flagg, the iconic King character that first appeared in “The Stand” before bringing his trademark brand of chaos and destruction to “The Dark Tower”.

In the previous small-screen adaptation of “The Stand”, “Chicago Hope” alum Jamey Sheridan played the rotten apple, a guy leading a colony of evil plague survivors in Las Vegas in preparation of the final showdown between good and evil.

Also joining the limited event series, “Ghost” oscar winner Whoopi Goldberg. With the help of guest Stephen King, the actress announced she’d be playing force of good Mother Abigail, while interviewing the author on an episode of The View.

James Marsden, Amber Heard and Odessa Young are also onboard the 2020 offering.
