A feature based on Eddie Alcazar’s Director’s Fortnight short “The Vandal” is in the works, with Steven Soderbergh set to executive produce.
“Star”, which will reunite Acazar and Soderbergh after short film “Kuso”, will tell of Harold, whose tormented search for peace from traumatic loss results in an unexpectedly destructive awakening after he undergoes a lobotomy. When the procedure “turns his mind inside out” and his great love is suddenly gone, Harold’s search intensifies.
Bill Duke played the role of Harold in the short.
Directed by American helmer Alcazar, “The Vandal” is one of the big Oscar hopefuls for Best Short.
