Sony was pitched an all-Spidey team-up two years ago!

While rumors continue to circulate that Sam Raimi plans on bringing together the three most recent live-action Spidey’s – Tobey Maguire from his three films, Andrew Garfield from “Amazing Spider-Man” and it’s sequel, and currently Spidey, Tom Holland – for his upcoming “Doctor Strange in the Multitude of Madness” (because it’s set in the multiverse, ya see, there’s opportunities to meet versions of the different characters from different dimensions). Until Raimi himself confirms that’s the plan, chalk it up as a probable rumour. Either way, “Doctor Strange 2” is in good hands and should be one to cue for come 2022.

Seems the idea of teaming all the Spider-guys for a movie has been knocked about by others over the years too- with “Spider-Man : Into the Spider-Verse” producer Phil Lord revealing that they originally planned to have Maguire, Garfield and Holland’s versions pop up in the 2018 animated blockbuster.

“We pitched the Sony brass an ambitious tag involving Spider-Ham, Tobey, Andrew, and Tom”, Lord tweeted during a recent virtual watch of the film. “They felt it was “too soon””.

If those words are anything to go by, we might see the original red-chested heroes team-up in the next Spidey film – or, if not before, in the aforementioned “Doctor Strange” movie. Either way, there’s a good chance we’ll be seeing Maguire and Garfield back in red sometime over the next couple of years.
