Spider-Man 3 looks to be a hefty affair, with more familiar faces rumoured to be returning

News has been flying around the spider-web for what feels like an eternity about “Spider-Man 3”, and who may be aboard the film alongside Tom Holland’s Spider-Man.

Firstly, news from Collider is that Alfred Molina is returning as Doctor Octopus – after playing the character in 2004’s “Spider-Man’, which had Tobey Maguire in the lead role.

But he’s not the only familiar face coming back – Jamie Foxx’s Electro is reportedly a sure thing, as is his co-star from “The Amazing Spider-Man” – Andrew Garfield.

Talks with Maguire and his love interest Mary-Jane played by Kirsten Dunst are continuing, and Emma Stone could also reprise her role as Gwen Stacy.

That’s a lot of spidey-news, but the point is that the third film, directed by Jon Watts, will delve into a multi-verse, bringing the 3 Spider-heroes together. Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange will also be in the film. Returning to the current trilogy are Zendaya, Marisa Tomei and Jacob Batalon. Sony plans to release the film on December 17, 2021.
