Sly Stallone is sticking to his guns.
The Academy Award Winning actor, screenwriter and filmmaker had previously mentioned he’d be retiring Rocky Balboa from the “Creed” films. Over the weekend, the actor responded to a question over at Instagram confirming Rocky Balboa won’t be part of the upcoming second sequel to the Michael B.Jordan-starring film.
“It will be done but I won’t be in it. Keep punching.”
Not a big shock that Stallone won’t be part of the film – it’s time for the “Creed” franchise to stand on it’s own, without the Italian Stallion, and there ain’t much more to do with Balboa in that regard. Fans will be glad to know that the actor has started writing a TV series based on Rocky Balboa, but it’s understandable he’ll unlikely involved in an on-camera capacity in that one.
Stallone hasn’t retired all of his characters though, he’s said to be involved in a sequel to 1993 actioner “Demolition Man”, in which he’d reprise his John Spartan, and is rumored to be shooting a fourth “Expendables” movie shortly.
“Creed 3” will not only star Jordan but the former “Friday Night Lights” actor will also make his directorial debut on the new film, which is set to be released in theaters on Nov. 23, 2022.
