Stallone shoots Rambo 5 in September!

If I recall correctly, the last time Millennium Films took a proposed “Rambo 5” to Cannes, star Sylvester Stallone knew nothing about it -and considering it was his face on the sales art they were using at the time, you’d think he probably would’ve.

Hopefully this isn’t the case again.

Screen International report that the film is on Millennium’s slate this year, with production due to kick off September 1.

The shoot will encompass London, Bulgaria, and the Canary Islands, says the trade.

Millennium Media is financing the tentatively titled “Rambo V” and handles worldwide sales rights. Avi Lerner and Kevin King serve as producers and Matt Cirulnick wrote the screenplay. A director will be announced shortly.

In the new film, John Rambo finds himself in a ranch in Arizona, deeply troubled and wrestling with PTSD as he picks up casual work wherever he can. When long-time family friend and estate manager Maria informs Rambo that her grand-daughter has gone missing after crossing into Mexico for a party, he sets off with her to find the youngster.

What ensues is a violent descent into hell as Rambo uncovers a sex-trafficking ring. He teams up with a journalist whose half-sister has also been kidnapped and must deploy all his skills to save the girls and bring down a vicious crime lord.

Stallone is also said to be attached to do another “Expendables” pic for the same crowd.

A TV series based on “Rambo” was reported to be in development last year.
