Star Wars returning to cinemas

And other films getting a 3D re-issue

This baby’s been milked so many times; Uncle George should be able to mix up thick shakes for his employees for the rest of their natural lives.

“Star Wars” is returning to the big screen, says The Hollywood Reporter. Though rumoured plenty of times for another re-release, the trade announcement pretty much locks it in for Eddie.

Just a few years after the enormously-successfully ‘Special Edition’ re-issues, the original 1977 space opera is eyeing another date with the multiplex. (And Mark Hammil couldn’t be happier). Again, Lucas will be using the re-release to show off some new toys – In this case, 3-D technology.

Though the trade only states that “Star Wars : A New Hope” will be getting the re-release treatment in 3D, earlier reports suggested that Lucas would also be tinkering with the sequels, and putting them out a year apart from one another.

Several other films are being considered for the 3-D format, says the trade, including James Cameron’s “Titanic” and Peter Jackson’s “Lord of the Rings”.
