Not unsurprisingly, considering it’s such a lucrative brand, MGM is dusting off the “Stargate” logo for a revival series.
Following in the footsteps of the upcoming “Star Trek : Discovery”, the shingle has announced a new small-screen spin-off of the popular film (and TV) series.
The new digital series will follow the adventures of Catherine Langford.
The news was made public at the MGM panel at SDCC.
The 10-episode “Stargate : Origins” follows the early history surrounding the extraordinary portal first seen in the Kurt Russell movie. Young Catherine embarks on an unexpected adventure to unlock the mystery of what lies beyond the Stargate in order to save Earth from unimaginable darkness.
Written by Mark Ilvedson and Justin Michael Terry and directed by Mercedes Bryce Morgan (“Virtual Morality”), “Stargate Origins” is slated to begin next month.
