Still Clueless?

A remake of ’90s classic “Clueless” is in the works at Paramount Pictures.

The 1995 film, a wondrously wicked laffer from Amy Heckerling that introduced audiences to then it-thing Alicia Silverstone as well as a whole new vocabulary, was a smash for the studio first time-around. Co-starring Paul Rudd, the late Brittany Murphy and Stacey Dash, the rom-com told of a spoilt Beverly Hills teenager who gets a wake-up call when she falls for her half-brother.

Though it wasn’t anywhere near as popular, Silverstone and director Heckerling would later reunite for the comedy “Vamps”, while a “Clueless” TV spin-off and a Broadway show followed the hit film.

Marquita Robinson, who serves as a story editor and writer on Netflix’s “GLOW,” is writing the new film. While the header suggests straight-up remake, there’s still a chance older incarnations of characters from the original – particularly with Silvestone, Rudd, Dash, Breckin Meyer, Donald Faison, Wallace Shawn, Twink Caplan and Jeremy Sisto – so supportive of the film that helped launch their careers – could appear.

In recent times, Silverstone has said Heckerling wanted nowhere near a sequel, which might explain why the studio has opted to go this way.

“Girls Trip” writer Tracy Oliver is producing the film.
