Tarantino spin-off dead?

Travolta and Madsen’s suits no longer need to be pressed

Bit of an update from the guys at Slashfilm.com on the tardy “Vega Brothers” movie – the movie that would have teamed John Travolta’s “Pulp Fiction” character with Michael Madsen’s “Reservoir Dogs” character – and it isn’t an encouraging update.

Tarantino says, “It was called Double V Vega. It actually would have taken place during the time Vincent [Travolta’s character] was in Amsterdam, when he was running one of Marcellus’ clubs in Amsterdam. And Vic [Madsen] goes to visit him.

“But we’re a little older now, and since they [both characters] are both [dead] – it would have to be a prequel,” said Tarantino. “I actually came up with a way I could have done it, even being older and dead where they all had older brothers and both of their brothers got together because the two guys died. And they wanted revenge or something like that. But now, they [the actors] are too old for that. I got to say, it’s kind of unlikely now.”

I know Clint is going to be bummed out by this news; he’s been aching for this thing for years. He loves John Travolta, and I know he loves the works of Quentin Tarantino too. Chances are he’s – as well as a “Grindhouse” full of other folks – been creaming for this baby to happen.

In a second dose of bad news….

Did you hear that “Grindhouse” isn’t exactly doing great numbers this weekend? It’s opened at 4th place! Ouch! You can rummage through the report at IESB.
