Tarantino’s Star Trek eyes writer, R-rating

The recently “proposed” Quentin Tarantino “Star Trek” film – he’s come up with a story for one, he might also direct it – seems to be inching forward swiftly.

According to Deadline, Tarantino and series producer JJ Abrams fancy Mark L.Smith, writer of “The Revenant”, as the person to adapt Tarantino’s story. Lindsey Beer and Drew Pearce will also meet with Tarantino and Abrams to discuss ideas.

Furthermore, the movie would be – wait for it- a hard R-rated movie… something quite alien to the franchise. Tarantino, who has only ever directed R-rated movies, has apparently insisted on it and the powers-that-be have agreed to let him have his way.

As reported previously, the new “Star Trek” may be based on an old “Next Generation” episode called “Yesterday’s Enterprise”.
