Friday the 13th reboot coming – from LeBron James!?

When it comes to rebooting horror, I can get on board. The more the merrier I say – if it’s done right, of course. Iconic killer Jason Voorhees could be making his way back to the big screen in a “Friday the 13th” reboot, with LeBron James’ (!) SpringHill Entertainment and Vertigo Entertainment in talks to bring back the franchise.

Last month, original screenwriter Victor Miller regained the rights to the screenplay, which sees the character of Jason Voorhees, who dies as a young boy in the first movie, become the unstoppable hockey mask-wearing killer, which has become the easiest Halloween costume since.

The original 1980 horror movie told of a group of counselors at the fictional Camp Crystal Lake who are dispatched one by one by an unknown murderer. The assailant is later revealed to be Mrs. Voorhees, the vengeance-seeking mother of a young boy, Jason, who drowned while at camp because the counselors were busy having sex and not watching him.

James – clearly a film-fan; he’s also producing the new “Space Jam” movie –  is said to be a huge horror fan, so it could be a total hit if it comes off!
