Brianna Hildebrand, co-star in “Deadpool”, has landed a spot as female lead alongside John Cho in the 2nd season of Fox’s “The Exorcist”. She is expected to appear on the “Exorcist” panel at the upcoming Comic-con in San Diego, according to Deadline.
Season 2 sees Father Tomas Ortega (Alfonso Herrera) and a newly collarless Marcus Keane (Ben Daniels) out of Chicago and on the road, searching out evil. Across the Atlantic, Father Bennett (Kurt Egyiawan) attempts to weed out those within the Vatican who have turned against God. Ultimately, Tomas and Marcus are led to Andrew Kim (Cho), a former child psychologist who runs a group home for five at-risk foster children on a secluded private island off the coast of Seattle. When one of the children under Andrew’s care is targeted by a powerful force, the two priests head west, setting themselves on a collision course with hell. Hildebrand will play a foster child named Verity, who’s time in the home is coming to an end as she nears her 18th birthday.
Blake Lively is set to become a spy in a female “Jason Bourne” type film, from the filmmakers of the last 8 “Bond” films. Reed Morano has been tapped to direct the film, titled “The Rhythm Section”. It’s based on the first of four novels by author Mark Burnell, according to Deadline.
The thriller has protagonist Stephanie Patrick as the heroine, played by Lively, with multiple films planned for the espionage series. The logline for the first flick: “Patrick is on a path of self-destruction after the death of her family in an airplane crash, a flight that she was meant to be on. After discovering that the crash was not an accident, her anger awakens a new sense of purpose and she rises to uncover the truth by adapting the identity of an assassin to track down those responsible. The new, and lethal, Stephanie Patrick is on a mission to fill the void between what she knows and what she is told.”
“The Rhythm Section” is said to be a contemporary adaptation of the book, and the others in the series include “Gemini”, “The Third Woman” and “Chameleon”.
