The Irishman announcement teases theatrical release

Martin Scorsese’s “The Irishman” was originally set exclusively for Netflix audiences, but it seems we’ll get to see it on the big screen after all. It’s only set for a limited run, but enough that it will be in contention for an Academy Award in the new year.

The film has an incredible cast including Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, Joe Pesci, and Harvey Keitel – among many others.

De Niro plays Frank “The Irishman” Sheeran, a mob hitman, who allegedly carried out more than 25 murders. Pacino plays Jimmy Hoffa, who was famously murdered. Pesci portrays Pennsylvania Mafia boss Russell Bufalino, who may or may not have had something to do with the disappearance of Jimmy Hoffa. Keitel stars as Angelo Bruno, while Ray Romano is Bill Bufalino, who works as a Teamster lawyer.

The film will come to Netflix in the “Fall” – which for us Down Under is the Spring.
