Another smooth move from Adam Sandler, following his bravura turn in last year’s “Uncut Gems”.
Per Variety, the freshly-oiled SNL alum will star in Jeremiah Zagar’s next “Hustle”, a Netflix offering about an American basketball scout who, after being unjustly fired, discovers a talented player abroad and decides to bring him to the U.S. to prove that they both have what it takes to make it in the NBA.
Yep, sounds a bit like Kevin Bacon vehicle “The Air Up There” – but the pedigree behind the camera suggest it might have a tad more meat on it’s bones.
In development for a couple of years, “Hustle” was panned by Taylor Maerne and Will Fetters. In addition to Happy Madison, Roth/Kirschenbaum Films, and Maverick Carter’s Springhill Entertainment, the producing committee on the film includes basketballer turned movie magnate LeBron James (“Space Jam 2”).
