Tom Welling eyeing a Clark Kent return

Former “Smallville” star Tom Welling has really changed his tune in recent years when it comes to not wanting to ever done the cape onscreen.

During his heyday on the series, Welling agreed with the show’s producers’ “no tights, no flights” rule – even expressing disinterest in playing the Man of Steel, cape and all, should the opportunity ever arise.

After reprising his role as Clark Kent on The CW’s recent “Crisis on Infinite Earths”, Welling’s seemingly a lot keener to play the character again, even his alter-ego, than his younger self ever was.

The 44-year-old actor tells the El mundo geek de Ernestoneitor YouTube channel that he’d be up for reprising Kal-El in the upcoming “The Batman” starring Robert Pattinson, if the studio asked.

“Yeah, I think that would be cool. My buddy Rob Pattinson, he is going to be the new Batman. I would love — it would be fun to be the Superman that shows up in his movie, just because he is a friend of mine. Yeah, who knows,” said Welling.

There’s a rumor floating about that Welling might also have been contacted to reprise his Clark Kent for the multiverse-skewed “The Flash”. Considering Michael Keaton is in there, reprising his ’89 Batman, there’s a ‘possible, I guess?’ scenario.

Meantime, Welling and his former co-star Michael Rosenbaum are trying to get an animated “Smallville” sequel series going.

The show, presumably, would take place after the series finale of the series – with Clark Kent now fully embracing his ‘Super’ side. Both fellas have mentioned this at conventions in the past and now, Rosenbaum responds to a follower on Twitter reiterating his interest.
