Top Gun : Maverick no longer releasing in 2020

Tom Cruise plays Capt. Pete "Maverick" Mitchell in Top Gun: Maverick from Paramount Pictures, Skydance and Jerry Bruckheimer Films.

As expected, considering how long this vaccine seems to be taking to reach our veins, Paramount has opted to push “Top Gun : Maverick” to 2021.

The Tom Cruise-starrer has already been postponed once – it would’ve been released in June had the pandemic not have played havoc with theaters. The film is now set for July 2, 2021, nearly six months after its most recent release date of Dec. 23, 2020.

Apparently a big factor in moving the release of “Maverick” was Cruise’s schedule. With the actor set to resume filming on the next two “Mission : Impossible” movies, he wouldn’t have been available to promote the the former come December. The new date frees up Cruise to embark on one of his trademark global promotional campaigns to push the sequel.
