Top Gun sequel will “blow people’s minds”

One of the actors co-starring alongside Tom Cruise in the long-awaited sequel to “Top Gun” says the film delivers – and then some.

Jay Ellis, 37, who plays a flyboy in the Joseph Kosinski-directed “Top Gun : Maverick” said the movie is going to be “amazing” – and we can single-highhandedly thank Tom Cruise for that.

“It’s going to be an amazing movie”, the “Insecure” actor tells Entertainment Tonight. “Tom is that dude…Tom is literally going to make sure that we go there, and that this exceeds everyone’s expectations. We’ve been filming for about six months now, and we’ve got a few more to go. It’s been an amazing ride. Tom’s been a mentor, Joseph Kosinski, our director’s, been amazing, Jerry Bruckheimer’s been amazing, the whole cast”.

He added, “I’m going to tell you right now, we are literally going to blow people’s minds.”

The film explores Maverick’s time in the modern military, as he adjusts to a world where drones and modern tech are commonplace. He also finds a new lover in a single mother and bartender (Jennifer Connelly).

Other characters in the film include Bradley Bradshaw (Miles Teller), the son of the late ‘Goose’, and Maverick’s one-time rival ‘Iceman’ (Val Kilmer).

“Top Gun : Maverick” releases summer 2020.
