Trailer: The Huntsman: Winter’s War

Published

on

The third full-length trailer has been released for the unexpected sequel “The Huntsman: Winter’s War“. The original film, “Snow White and the Huntsman” released in 2012 to average critical and financial success. So this second installment, hitting theaters next month, is something that not many were really asking for. Luckily it looks like a thrilling fantasy adventure, filled with dark magic and compelling heroines.

The sequel stars Chris Hemsworth as the Huntsman and Charlize Theron as the evil queen Ravenna, both of whom were in the original; Emily Blunt and Jessica Chastain join the crew as The Ice Queen and the warrior Sara, respectively. It’s a rare ensemble cast for a film of this kind, which hopefully will help elevate it above its predecessor. It’s in some ways a prequel, but also a spinoff, diving deeper into the potentially dark backstory of the Huntsman while also continuing the original’s storyline.

The sequel also appears to be relatively lighter in tone than the first, although there still seems to be plenty of creepiness to it. And with this third trailer, Universal Pictures is clearly marketing it as much as possible, hoping that it might draw in fans as well as curious newcomers. The addition of mysterious characters like The Ice Queen and Sara is easily one of the best parts of what we have seen so far. No matter the film’s eventual reception, good or bad, it’s still a great showcase for a strong female-presence in Hollywood blockbusters. Hemsworth is great and all, but just look at what else this film has going for it.

“The Huntsman: Winter’s War” opens in theaters on April 22nd.

Clueless cast reunite to celebrate 25th Anniversary!

The cast of ’90s gem “Clueless” reunited at C2E2 at McCormick Place Saturday afternoon to share memories of working on the now 25-year-old comedy classic.

While a couple of cast members were noticeably absent (specifically, Stacey Dash, who played Dionne, and the late, wonderful Brittany Murphy, who left us in 2009), the 2,800 seat hall did get to spend quality time with Alicia Silverstone, Paul Rudd, Breckin Meyer and Donald Faison.

While most of the cast had understandably aged, Rudd seems to be stuck in time.

“I’m 80 years old on the inside.” He pointed to his chest: “In here, pure darkness — and a little moisturizer.”

“They had to knock on Paul’s trailer an hour early because he had to finish sucking the lifeblood out of babies”, said Meyer, who played skateboarder Travis in the film.

While the audience seemed to be gunning for solid word on some sort of sequel, the cast reiterated that the film is  – sadly – going to be rebooted… without them.
