Trailer : It

As teased yesterday by Warner Bros., a brand new trailer for the latest adaptation of Stephen King’s terrifying novel It is finally here.

This isn’t the first time It has gone from page to screen – in 1990, the book was adapted as a television mini-series for ABC by director Tommy Lee Wallace and writer Lawrence D. Cohen. The mini-series is best known for Tim Curry’s legendary performance as Pennywise the Clown, a terrifying, shape-shifting creature from the beyond which hunts the children of a small American town in the 1980s.

This time around, Andrés Muschietti (Mama) directs from a script by Chase Palmer, Gary Dauberman and Cary Fukunaga. Fukunaga – best known for his work on the first season of HBO’s True Detective – was previously in the director’s chair for this flick, penning the original screenplay before leaving the project due to creative differences. While he’s no longer directly involved, it seems elements of his script will remain in the final product. It is actually the first in a duo of films adapting King’s novel, with a sequel to finish the story hopefully to come.

Releasing September 8th, It will round out quite a year for Stephen King fans with the August 4th release of The Dark Tower and an original television series based in the world of Stephen King, Castle Rock, currently in production at Hulu.

In Derry, Maine, seven friends come face-to-face with a shape shifter, who takes the form of an evil clown who targets children.

True Detective season 3 a go + Mahershala Ali confirmed to star
