TV Briefs : Bel-Air, Charlie Cox series, Yellowjackets, Wednesday, Good Omens & more…

Some TV bits and bobs you might have missed….

Sam Waterston is returning for his 17th season as District Attorney Jack McCoy on NBC’s “Law & Order,” which premieres its 21st season on Thursday, Feb. 24.

“Very few casting announcements have ever given me this much pleasure,” said executive producer Dick Wolf. “Since day one, Sam has had perfect pitch when it comes to Jack McCoy as a character who both reflects and expands our ability to understand the law. He is the ultimate conscience of the show and I look forward to him emulating the career of New York District Attorney Robert Morgenthau, who served until he was 90. With both Sam and Anthony (Anderson) returning, it shows that the 21st season is merely a continuation of where we left off.”

Showtime has renewed the critically acclaimed survival drama “Yellowjackets” for a second season. The premiere of the Melanie Lynskey/Christina Ricci-starrer has been seen by over 4 million viewers across platforms to date.

“Yellowjackets has been an unadulterated sensation for Showtime,” said Showtime co-president Gary Levine. “We are overwhelmed by both the acclaim and the audience response to our series, including several ‘Best of 2021’ lists, a 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes and snowballing viewership. Clearly there is a hunger for originality and audacity, and our incredible showrunners Ashley, Bart and Jonathan, along with their pitch-perfect cast, have delivered that and so much more. I can’t wait to see the surprises they have in store for us in season two.”

Peacock’s “Bel-Air” will Premiere on Super Bowl Sunday (February 13, 2022) with New Episodes Released Weekly. Set in modern-day America, Bel-Air is a serialized one-hour dramatic analogue of the 90’s sitcom “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” that leans into the original premise: Will’s complicated journey from the streets of West Philadelphia to the gated mansions of Bel-Air. With a reimagined vision, Bel-Air will dive deeper into the inherent conflicts, emotions and biases that were impossible to fully explore in a 30-minute sitcom format, while still delivering swagger and nods to the original show.
