TV Casting: Bello, Bergl, Willig, Belushi

Maria Bello has landed a leading role opposite Billy Bob Thornton, Williams Hurt and Olivia Thirlby in “Trial”, a legal drama from Amazon Studios.

The show comes from “The Practice” creator David E. Kelley and follows “Billy (Thornton), who, after much success as an attorney, now spends his days getting drunk. His professional life is turned upside down when a young lawyer who has just been fired from his old firm brings him a wrongful death case that pits him against the head of his former firm” (via Variety).

Bello will play attorney Julie McBride, who is also Billy’s ex-wife. “Beautiful, brilliant, accomplished, Julie is successful in her career — she is a co-founding partner at a firm — but her personal life is lacking, as she lost the great love of her life, Billy, and holds him in some contempt for allowing him to derail his life.”

“Shameless” star Emily Bergl has landed a recurring role on ABC’s “American Crime” season 2.

The second season of the show will centre on a high school student who accuses several of the school’s championship basketball players of sexually assaulting him, and then taking photos and posting them online.

Bergl will play “Lillah Tanner, the mother of Eric Lupton (played by Joey Pollari), a basketball player from a working class family who’s attending school on a scholarship. Lillah’s family becomes embroiled in the fallout of alleged sexual assault” (via Variety).

Former NFL player Matthew Willig has joined the cast of ABC and Marvel’s “Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD” season 3.

Willig will play Inhuman villain Lash, who has the ability to manipulate energy and thinks those given the gift of Terrigenesis is an honor that not all deserve.

ABC and Marvel have also released an extensive synopsis for the upcoming third season, which you can find here.

Jim Belushi will star in Fox’s TV adaptation of John Travolta’s 1980s “Urban Cowboy”.

Belushi will play “spirited long haul truck driver-turned-honky tonk bar owner” Marshall in the pilot.

The role will be a series regular should the show get the all clear to go to series.

“Sense8’s” Alfonso Herrera stars as rodeo circuit rider Kyle (played by Travolta in the original film) “who is a puppet for the drug cartel and is forced to leave flee Mexico after messing with the wrong people” (via Variety).
