TV Casting : The Crown, Julia Child series

Gillian Anderson has been cast as former British PM Margaret Thatcher in season four of “The Crown”. The casting news was announced the casting on Twitter.

Known as the Iron Lady, Thatcher, who died in 2013, was Great Britain’s first female prime minister and served from from 1979 to 1990. Emma Corrin also will join the Season 4 cast as Lady Diana Spencer, the eventual first wife of Prince Charles.

The third season of “The Crown” will hit Netflix in November, and season four is currently in production.

Joan Cusack is the latest to play celebrity cook Julia Child in the long-gestating series from HBO Max. The actress is in final negotiations for the project, from writer/executive producer Daniel Goldfarb, executive producer Chris Keyser, Lionsgate TV and company-owned 3 Arts.

Meryl Streep played the TV personality in the 2009 film “Julie & Julia”. The casting news comes from Deadline.
