N.Y.P.D Blues

The “N.Y.P.D” reboot that would’ve fixed on Andy’s son – investigating his pop’s murder – is dead in the water, ABC confirmed at the TCA’s this week. Network brass did reveal though that the show might return in some other form later on – – maybe this time, with Andy? just an idea, folks.

ABC still comical

ABC is looking to add a new Marvel superhero series to their stable when “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D” wraps after it’s upcoming seventh season. While the net has offered no hints as to which comic-book might get the TV treatment over at the Disney sibling, we’d like to hope “She-Hulk” might be scrawled on the net’s whiteboard.

Goldberg’s a bit Rusty

“The Goldbergs” will once again pay tribute to a hit movie from the 1980s, the iconic 1983 film “National Lampoon’s Vacation,” when the comedy has its seventh season premiere, Sep 25, on ABC, it was announced today at the 2019 TCA Summer Press Tour.  In the upcoming “Vacation” episode, Beverly insists the family take a road trip to go on vacation to Disneyland in Anaheim, California, before Erica and Barry go off to college. But, like the film, things do not go as planned as they travel across the country. Meanwhile, Erica worries more and more about her relationship with Geoff when he teases “we need to talk” and won’t tell her anything until the family returns from their adventure.  Anthony Michael Hall and Christie Brinkley will guest star in roles to be announced at a later date.

911 Anniversary series coming

ABC Entertainment President Karey Burke announced today that ABC has secured the rights to Mitchell Zuckoff’s bestselling book “Fall and Rise: The Story of 9/11.” In order to commemorate and honor the 20th anniversary of the events of September 11, the network will develop a limited series based on the Harper Collins book in 2021.  The series chronicles the stories of those who were lost, saved and forever altered by the most heinous acts of terrorism on American soil. This profound portrait of humanity and resilience in the face of unspeakable horror will honor the history and events of this tragic day.

Little Mermaid LIVE coming in November
Auli’i Cravalho, Queen Latifah and Shaggy will star in a long-gestating, live-action “Little Mermaid” for ABC. Says the presser,”This special tribute to the original animated classic and its timeless music will take viewers on a magical adventure under the sea as live musical performances by a star-studded cast will be interwoven into the broadcast of the original feature film. This never-before-seen hybrid format will feature beautifully intricate sets and costumes, with music from the original animated film and the Tony Award(R)-winning Broadway stage version, originally composed by eight-time Oscar(R)-winning composer, Alan Menken.”

Felix fixes the Dead
AMC has greenlit another “Walking Dead” spin-off. This one, still untitled, will feature Nico Tortorella as ‘Felix’, a good guy who isn’t afraid to fight for others – unlike so many in the parent series, that are quite happy to sit back and watch their beloved be eaten by flesh-gobbling zombies.  The series, fixing on the first generation of zombie-survivors to come of age, is currently in production in Richmond, VA.
