A round-up of what’s happening in TV-land

“Mission Impossible : Fallout” actress Michelle Monaghan will star in limited series “Echoes” for Netflix.

Picked up straight to series last month, the seven-episode show is about “identical twins, Leni and Gina, who, since they were children, have secretly swapped lives, culminating in a double life as adults: They share two homes, two husbands and a child, but everything in their perfectly choreographed world is thrown into disarray when one of the sisters goes missing.” [More…]

Diane Ademu-John has been appointed writer, showrunner, and executive producer of “Dune: The Sisterhood”. Jon Spaihts had previously been attached to run the series, but stepped down to work on the “Dune” movie sequel. “Set in the universe of Frank Herbert’s epic “Dune” novel series, “Dune: The Sisterhood” is told through the eyes of a mysterious order of women known as the Bene Gesserit. Given extraordinary abilities by their mastery of the body and the mind, the Bene Gesserit expertly weave through the feudal politics and intrigue of The Imperium, pursuing plans of their own that will ultimately lead them to the enigmatic planet Arrakis, known to its inhabitants as Dune. It will serve as a prequel to the films.” [More…]

“Big Little Lies” alum Shailene Woodley will star in the original series “Three Women”. The show has been picked up straight to series, with principal photography set to begin in the fall. The announcement was made today by Amy Israel, Executive Vice President, Scripted Programming, Showtime Networks Inc. In this intimate, haunting portrayal of American female desire, three women are on a crash course to radically overturn their lives. Lina, a homemaker in suburban Indiana, is a decade into a passionless marriage when she embarks on an affair that quickly becomes all-consuming and transforms her life. Sloane, a glamorous entrepreneur in the Northeast, has a committed open marriage with Richard, until two sexy new strangers threaten their aspirational love story. Maggie, a student in North Dakota, weathers an intense storm after accusing her married English teacher of an inappropriate relationship. Gia, a writer grieving the loss of her family, persuades each of these three spectacular “ordinary” women to tell her their stories, and her relationships with them change the course of her life forever.

You’ll never believe what Jordan Peele has named his new movie!
