Two more films move from theaters to streaming platforms

Apple TV

In a move said to be spurred by Skydance’s increasing interest in getting in bed with the streaming networks, the prolific production company has moved two animated movies from a theatrical release calendar to the loungeroom.

Animated films “Luck” and “Spellbound”, originally due for theatrical release by Paramount in 2021, are now headed to Apple.

Skydance’s deal with Paramount allows the outfit to make any distribution decision they choose.  No doubt chief David Ellison has seen greater financial opportunity from the films on streamers, as opposed to theaters –   particularly considering the effect the pandemic has had on bigscreen releases.

Expect plenty more movements like this.
