Val Kilmer had Top Gun : Maverick write Iceman into the sequel

In his newly-released memoir ‘I’m Your Huckleberry’, Val Kilmer said he had to publicly plea his Tom “Iceman” Kazansky into upcoming sequel “Top Gun : Maverick”.

A ways back, Kilmer got dressed in an ‘Iceman’ T-Shirt and posted pictures of himself online, celebrating that the film was in development.

Seemingly the producers caught the post because originally the script for “Maverick” didn’t feature Kilmer’s iconic role.

“As the Temptations sang in the heydey of Motown soul, ‘Ain’t too proud to beg.’ The producers went for it. Cruise went for it. Cruise couldn’t have been cooler. … Tom [Cruise] and I took up where we left off. The reunion felt great.”

It’s not yet known how big a role Kilmer has in the film.

“As far as the film’s plot goes,” Kilmer writes, “I’m sworn to secrecy.”

“Top Gun : Maverick” opens December 23.
