Disney’s “Frozen” continues to dominate, with the animated pic topping $400 million at the US box office in its 23rd week.
“Frozen” becomes the sixth Disney film to cross the mark, joining the likes of “Marvel’s The Avengers” – $623 million, “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest” – $423 million, “The Lion King” – $423 million, “Toy Story 3” – $415 million and “Iron Man 3” – $409 million.
The film, which follows Anna and Kristoff’s epic journey across the ice, also recently became the highest grossing animated film ever, pulling in $1.1 billion internationally. Sitting between “Iron Man 3” and “Transformers: Dark of the Moon”, it takes 6th place on the list of the highest grossing films, across all genres, of all time.
Opening on Thanksgiving weekend, “Frozen” debuted to $93 million and went on to sit firmly in the US top ten for 17 weeks.
“Frozen” continues to screen in selected cinemas, despite also being available on VOD and DVD.
