Warner Bros considered recasting Amber Heard in Aquaman 2

Allegations against the actress had nothing to do with it, says DC Films unit boss.

The head of WB’s DC Films unit said Tuesday that Amber Heard was nearly recast for the upcoming “Aquaman” sequel.

Walter Hamada, speaking at the Heard/Depp trial, said allegations against the actress played no part in the casting decisions.

The only reason Heard was near recast as Mera, says Hamada, is because she didn’t have chemistry with co-star Jason Momoa.

“They didn’t have a lot of chemistry together. Editorially they were able to make that relationship work in the first movie, but there was a concern that it took a lot of effort to get there. You know it when you see it, and the chemistry wasn’t there.”

“Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” will be released March 17, 2023.
