Washington's "on fire"

Variety reports that Denzel Washington is in talks to star in "Man on Fire", the Brian Helgeland-scripted adaptation of the A.J. Quinnell novel. Washington will play an embittered former Marine who’s persuaded to take a job as bodyguard of the child of a family that has been living under threats from kidnappers. When the child is kidnapped and killed accidentally in a botched exchange for a ransom, the soldier devotes himself to avenging her death. Tony Scott directs.
