Wesley Snipes, James Earl Jones and Rick Ross are headed behind the Paramount mountain for the “Coming to America” sequel.
Cinema’s former ‘Blade’ plays the villain of the piece, General Izzi, the ruler of a neighboring nation to Murphy’s country of Zamunda, while Jones reprises his role as Eddie Murphy’s on-screen father King Jaffe Joffer. Grammy nominee Rick Ross is also onboard, playing, and Paul Bates reprises his role as Akeem’s bodyguard Oha from the 1988 original.
Kiki Layne is attached to play Murphy’s Zamundian daughter in the film, while “Ghostbusters” alum Leslie Jones is also in negotiations for a role.
The Craig Brewer-directed sequel, due Dec 18 2020, sees Akeem and loyal servant Semmi (Arsenio Hall) heading back to America when they discover the former has a son he never knew existed.
