What to do this summer : Warner Bros Studio Tour Hollywood

It’s safe to say you’re reading this because you love movies and TV shows just as much as us, so trust us when we say the Warner Bros. Studio Tour in Burbank is a must-do for fans of the big and small screen. The tour is about 2 hours long, and takes you on a journey through the backlots, sound stages and film/TV sets for all your favourite programs.

Warner Bros. is one of the busiest studios in LA, and the beauty of the behind-the-scenes tour is that it’s still very active, so as you make your way through the backlots and soundstages, you’ll get to see sets being built and maybe even lucky enough to spot a star or two.

However, with or without celebrities you get a first hand view at famous sets such as the Geller house from “Friends”, the rotunda from “Gilmore Girls” and the creepy house from “Gremlins”. The tour guides are so knowledgeable and will tell interesting anecdotes and take you to see all the memorable sets.

A highlight for us was visiting the set of “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” – who is on a summer hiatus at the moment – and sit in the audience seating. Fun fact – you’ve got a better chance of winning Powerball than successfully scoring a ticket to see Ellen in action. So don’t book your flights until you’ve secured a ticket!

A soundstage will get a plaque out the front when it’s been on air for 10 or more seasons, and have the stage named after the show. “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” is the only show still running to have a plaque in its honour – well done Ellen!

If you like “Batman”, you’re in for a treat, with the tour taking you inside a hall with all the Batmobiles. The cars are just incredible, it’s hard to get your head around the design and hours that went into creating these vehicles – which, by the way, are all drivable!

For fans of DC, “The Big Bang Theory”, “Friends”, and “Harry Potter” – you’ll get an extra special look at costumes and sets from the incredibly popular movies and shows. Take a glimpse at the intricacy of the costumes from “Aquaman”, “Wonder Woman” and “Harry Potter” – and take pictures sitting on the couches from “Friends” and “The Big Bang Theory”.

Apart from the novelty of it all, it’s a really interesting and mind-blowing insight into the world behind the camera, before it hits your screen. The amount of lights and cameras, not to mention jobs that go into creating a production is incredible, and the opportunity to see it all up close is something you should not miss!
