Whedon confirms two new Avengers for 2015 sequel

A couple of calendar marks back a rumour hit the w’s had Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver were being added to the superhero line-up of “The Avengers 2”.

Writer/director Joss Whedon has now confirmed the rumour, explaining why he’s decided to add the duo.

“You know, they had a rough beginning. They’re interesting to me because they sort of represent the part of the world that wouldn’t necessarily agree with The Avengers”, the filmmaker tells IGN. “So they’re not there to make things easier. I’m not putting any characters in the movie that will make things easier.”

Also reported last week, Saoirse Ronan (“The Host”) being the “prototype” for the role of Scarlet witch, but she’s not onboard at this stage.

As for whether ‘Iron Man’ (whether it be Robert Downey Jr, who knows – – the actor seems intent on Marvel paying for the privilege of retaining his services, and they may just decide not to) will be back as ‘Iron Man’ for “The Avengers” 2 – especially considering those last few minutes of “Iron Man 3” – Whedon believes it a certainty.

“Well, I feel like in Iron Man 3, even though he said, ‘I’ve changed’ — he blew up his remote suits, but I don’t think anybody thinks he doesn’t have one anymore. The question is, if The Avengers are called, does he show up? And the answer is, ‘Yes!’”

Meantime, ComicBookMovie have intel that “The Avengers 2” may be headed to Africa. Apparently they’re making room for the superhero bunch in Cape Town.

Well, that’ll certainly make things cheaper… maybe they can even afford to look after the cast, financially, this time?
