Wonder Woman 1984 latest film release postponed due to Coronavirus

Not surprisingly, considering the ongoing threat of the Coronavirus outbreak, Warner Bros is postponing the June 5 release of “Wonder Woman 1984”.

The Burbank shingle have shifted the film to now bow August 14 – which is obviously when they expect things to be, er, better.

“When we greenlit ‘Wonder Woman 1984,’ it was with every intention to be viewed on the big screen and are excited to announce that Warner Bros. Pictures will be bringing the film to theatres on Aug. 14,” Toby Emmerich, Warner Bros. Pictures Group chairman, said in a statement. “We hope the world will be in a safer and healthier place by then.”

The studio has also pulled “In the Heights” (originally June 26), “Scoob” (originally May 15) and “Malignant” (whose August 14 date was taken by “WW84”) – all three films remain undated.

As Coronavirus continues to wreck havoc across the globe, many studios have been forced to move most of their first quarter releases. Disney’s “Black Widow” and “Mulan,” Universal’s “Fast & Furious” entry “Fast 9,” 007 flick “No Time to Die” and Paramount’s “A Quiet Place” sequel have all been re-dated to later in the year or early 2021.

Other films almost certain to change their release dates in the coming weeks including “Top Gun : Maverick”, set to open June 25, “Greyhound” starring Tom Hanks, opening May 8, and “Candyman”, opening June 12.
