You Can’t Stop The Remake

Nobody can’t stop the remake

It was only going to be time before they start remaking Steve Guttenberg classics – the much-requested redo of “Bad Medicine”, can only be around the corner, right? – with Gute’s acting collaboration with disco troupe The Village People about to get the Xerox.

“Can’t stop the Music”, the 1980 hit (well, in Australian anyway, god we’re sad) that served as a pseudo audiobiography of the Village People – telling the story of a talented composer who goes on the hunt for a group to sing his songs – is returning to the big screen.

According to Sky Showbiz, producers are planning a Pop Idol-style casting to re-make the band. In this version, the action will centre on a Studio 54-esque club, where the policeman, Indian, construction worker, cowboy and biker flaunt it every night.

If that news isn’t troubling enough, the site reports that Pamela Anderson has already been contacted about playing the Valerie Perrine role in the film, that of Samantha Simpson, the retired fashion model who buddies up with the wacko troupe.

Book me a ticket outta here.
