Young female lead set for Ghostbusters 3

12 year-old actress Mckenna Grace, seen recently as young Carol Danvers in “Captain Marvel”, has won a lead role in Jason Reitman’s highly-anticipated “Ghostbusters” threequel.

The Sony release serves a sequel to the original “Ghostbusters” movies made in the 1980s by Ivan Reitman, Jason Reitman’s father.

The story, by Reitman and Gil Kenan, centers on four teens, one set older, one set younger, with a focus on one family in particular.

Finn Wolfhard (“Stranger Things”) is already set to play the Mckenna’s brother, with Carrie Coon cast as their mother.

The original ‘Ghostbusters’, Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray and Ernie Hudson, are rumored to be reprising their roles from the 1984 and 1989 films for the follow-up.

The film, shooting under the title ‘Rust City’, lenses this summer for a summer 2020 release.

Mckenna, who co-stars alongside Kiefer Sutherland on “Designated Survivor”, next appears in horror sequel “Annabelle Comes Home”.
