The oft-dependable Zac Efron, fresh from frightening his “High School Musical” fans with a killer performance as Ted Bundy, is rumored to be in the running to play one of the cosmic cats in James Gunn’s third “Guardians of the Galaxy”.
The “Baywatch” and “Greatest Showman” actor is said to be in the running to play comic book fave Adam Warlock, the earthling with the innate energy-based powers , in the Marvel Studios prequel. The young actor, who has been tipped for similar roles before (like “Jonny Quest” and “Wolverine” – yes, Wolverine), is keen too, says Cosmic Book News, who have the scoop.

Production is still a ways off on the film- it’s not expected to go until 2020, once Gunn completes “The Suicide Squad” – so expect the “Guardians” rumor mill to be hot and heavy until then.
