Chloe Zhao (“Eternals”, “Nomadland”) has been tapped to develop a new movie based on fanged fave, Dracula.
The film is set at Universal – not surprisingly, being the home of the Universal Monsters (of which Vlad is a staple) – and is said to be a departure from some of the other films based on the neck-biter, like the studio’s own “Dracula Untold”.
Zhao’s film apparently combines original, futuristic, sci-fi western with the central theme revolving around being on society’s fringe.
Zhao tells THR, “I’ve always been fascinated by vampires and the concept of the Other they embody. I’m very excited to work with Donna, Peter and the team at Universal to reimagine such a beloved character.”
No word if The Invisible Man will cameo.
