This morning, Deadline announced that a ‘remake’ of Frank Marshall’s 1990 creepy-crawly blockbuster “Arachnophobia”, which starred Jeff Daniels, Harley Jane Kozak, Julian Sands and John Goodman, was in the works with “Freaky” director Christopher Landon helming for Amblin Pictures.
Amblin is partnering on the remake with James Wan’s Atomic Monster, with Wan and Michael Clear set to produce, and Judson Scott on board as executive producer
If Wan’s Facebook comments on a possible John Goodman return as Delbert McClintock (see below) are anything to go by, plus some follow-up responses he gave, the new film wouldn’t be so much a ‘remake’ as it would a sequel to the 1990 film. Good news, considering the ‘legacy sequel’ seems to be putting butts on seats right now plus who doesn’t love Goodman in that role!?! It’s a classic!
