Acquisition deals for Wild Eyed and Wicked, The Ritual

Two horror films find homes

Gravitas Ventures, an Anthem Sports & Entertainment Company, has acquired Worldwide rights to debut filmmaker G.S. Foxwood’s horror film Wild Eyed and Wicked starring Molly Kunz (Widows, The Irrational), Michael X. Sommers (Sense8), Stefanie Estes (Soft & Quiet), and Colleen Camp (Clue).

The film, produced by Big Bad Film’s Powell Robinson and Patrick R Young, will be released on June 11th on digital and cable on demand, with further details on the worldwide roll-out still to come.

Written by G.S. Foxwood and Executive Produced by Elizabeth Foxwood and their company New Mythology Productions, Wild Eyed and Wicked follows Lily Pierce (Kunz) in her attempt to strike back at the medieval creature that’s haunted her family for generations. In order to do so, she must reconnect with her estranged father, Gregory (Sommers), a disgraced history professor, and learn how to draw upon a time of steel and blade when armor-clad knights rode out and dueled monsters to the death. Estes, Camp, and Claire Saunders round out the cast and story.

The film blends elements of horror, familial drama, and fantasy to create a unique, emotionally powerful, and genuinely terrifying experience.

“Gravitas is excited to be the Worldwide partner on Wild Eyed and Wicked. This film is full of both heart and horror, and audiences will be hooked from the opening,” stated Mackenzie Maguire, Acquisitions Manager.

Wild Eyed and Wicked is coming off premieres at Dances with Films NYC and Austin Film Festival where it won the Dark Matters Audience Award. Previous films from BIG BAD FILM include Bastard (2015) and Threshold (2021), which is currently streaming on Arrow Player.¬

XYZ Films has acquired worldwide rights to the exorcism horror film The Ritual, starring Academy Award-winner Al Pacino (The Godfather trilogy) and Dan Stevens (Abigail), and directed by David Midell. The film was written by Midell and Enrico Natale, and produced by Andrew Stevens, Mitchell Welch and Natale. Ashley Greene and Abigail Cowen round out the cast. XYZ will release the film theatrically in 2025, and arrange international distribution at the upcoming Cannes market.

Based on a true story, The Ritual follows two priests – one questioning his faith (Stevens) and one reckoning with a troubled past (Pacino) – who must put aside their differences to save a possessed young woman through a difficult and dangerous series of exorcisms. The film is an authentic portrayal of Emma Schmidt, an American woman whose demonic possession culminated in harrowing exorcisms. Her case remains the most thoroughly documented exorcism in American history.
